What is Kratom?

7-hydroxymitragynine is a terpenoid indole alkaloid extracted from Mitragyna speciosa. On the mu receptors, 7-hydroxymitragynine acts as an agonist.
Depending on the region where the plant is grown, different strains of kratom exist. Kratom is sold in three color varieties: Red, Green, and White. Regional kratom varieties exist within these colors. The various types are Malaysian, Thai, and Indo. You do want to be cautious of certain drug interactions with Kratom– since combining this herb with depressants can be a bad idea(or other sedatives).
Red Vein Kratom
It is the popular kratom strain. It is mainly used to relieve pain. The strain is easier to grow thus more abundant variety. The alkaloid concentration in the variety is very high as compared to other kratom’s varieties. Red Thai, Red Vein Sumatra, and Borneo Red are the regional strains falling within the Red Vein kratom’s varieties. Its low doses are recommended for boosting mood while higher doses are for sedation in the treatment of pain.
White Vein Kratom
The strain is recommended for stimulation effects and mood-boosting. It is advisable that one should take it during the day as it interferes with sleep. Pontianak White Horn, White Vein Sumatra, and Borneo White are the regional varieties within the White Vein Kratom.
Green Vein Kratom
The strain boosts energy and also has analgesic effects. It produces euphoria, therefore, commonly used for recreation. Green vein variety is added to White and Red kratoms to balance their potencies. The Malaysian Green and Pontianak Green Horn are the regional varieties within Green Vein Kratom.
